We Have A New Chief Justice
John Roberts has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court after being easily confirmed by the Senate earlier.
Personally, I really don't get into much of a fervor about Supreme Court appointments as many others(on both sides) do. No one knows what Roberts will do until he actually starts ruling on cases. There have been surprises before-- aka David Suiter.
However John Roberts turns out, I doubt that he could be worse than that disaster area of a Justice Antonin Scalia. Scalia is the biggest disgrace in the history of the Court. Most, if not all, of his opinions are based not on the law, but rather on Scalia's opinion of what the law should be.
Did you wonder why Scalia wasn't nominated as the new Chief Justice? Simple. If he had been, he would have had to answer questions from Democrats about Bush v Gore. And, oh yeah, those questions would have been under oath. And there is no way in hell that Scalia(or Bu$h) would ever want that to happen. So, there was never any chance that Scalia would get the nomination.
